NDIS pricing changes: What you need to know
Last week, the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) announced that they will implement some new pricing arrangements in the new year.
Pricing changes for people with complex needs.
The change is a review to the NDIS price levels for self-care, social and recreational activities and is designed to help improve support for NDIS participants with complex needs.
Moving from 2 price levels to 3.
There are currently two price levels for self-care, social and recreational support.
Under the new pricing, which starts on 1 February 2019, this will be replaced with three price levels. This change has been made to make sure that the complex needs of people with disabilities are met through the right skilled and qualified staff and support services.
This means there will be a new price level with an increased fee (loading) per hour to pay support workers who are delivering very complex support services.
The new pricing levels will be:
- Level 1 – standard needs (as per 2018/19 price guide)
- Level 2 – complex needs (a 5.6 percent loading in alignment with current approach)
- Level 3 – very complex needs (new loading of 10.3 percent)
