“I support a man in his early 50s who uses a motorised wheelchair. He was living in shared accommodation in a house that was not suitable for a wheelchair. He needed suitable and safe housing.

I started the process of Home and Living supports and sourced an OT who dealt with Home and Living Assessments for a supported disability accommodation (SDA) application.

We submitted a change of situation to the NDIS which was approved. We then found an SDA unit that met his criteria and he moved in.

His life has changed dramatically. He loves his clean and safe new home. He’s close to public transport, a shopping centre and his medical team. His personal care has improved. He says he is now living a better and safer life.”

“When my client, a young boy with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Level 3, was referred by his Occupational Therapist, his family was looking for comprehensive and tailored support.

He faced significant challenges in communication, sensory regulation and daily living skills that impacted his quality of life.

A multidisciplinary approach was needed. I collaborated with an allied health therapist who specialised in children with ASD. Personalised therapy focusing on sensory integration, communication strategies, and building routines, has led to visible improvements. His mother described the changes as “a breath of fresh air” after years of limited progress.

The transformation in my client’s life and the reassurance his mother has found highlight the power of holistic, family-centered support. It’s a testament to the importance of empowering families, fostering meaningful progress and building relationships based on trust and results.”
