The latest NDIS pricing update.

The NDIA carries out an annual pricing review to ensure pricing for NDIS supports represents value for money and reflects the current market and a new NDIS price guide became effective on 1 July 2019.

Here’s a summary of the major changes:

Therapy and therapy assistants.

The price limit for most therapy supports, including Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI), has increased. There are also increases in price limits for psychologists and physiotherapists, based where these services are delivered.

New billing arrangements.

Non-face-to-face care

Providers can now claim an hourly rate for non-face-to-face care activities.

These can be claimed if:

  • they are part of delivering your support
  • your provider explains the activities to you, and
  • the conditions set out in the price guide are met.


Cancellation rules have been updated and providers can recover 90% of the fee associated with cancellation a support activity. This applies when cancellation timelines are not met (check your service agreement for these).

A short notice cancellation or no-show is now defined when there is a failure to provide:

  • Two business days’ notice for a support or service which is eight hours or less in duration and less than $1,000
  • Five clear business days’ notice, in all other cases.

This means that if you have an appointment with a service provider and do not show up, or cancel outside the required notice period, some of your NDIS funding will be used to cover the cost of the missed appointment.

Support coordination costs

Support coordinators are now able to claim for travel, cancellations and report writing. Before they can charge for these, they must obtain your agreement.

Service provider travel

Providers can now claim travel for up to 30 minutes between appointments within city areas, and up to 60 minutes in regional areas. Before they can charge for travel, they must obtain your agreement.

Remote and very remote loadings.

Recent research found that the cost to deliver services to areas with fewer people is discouraging providers from delivering services to participants in these areas.

To help, the NDIA has increased these loadings:

  • Remote loading: increased from 20% to 40%
  • Very remote loading: increased from 25% to 50%.

Assistive technology and home modification.

In a Consumables budget, low risk, low cost AT was previously called ‘Daily Adaptive Equipment’. It is now called ‘Low Cost AT’.

Adjustments to participant plans.

Funding in existing NDIS Plans will be adjusted to reflect indexation and the changes in the price limits for therapy, attendant care and community participation.

Before making any change to an existing service booking, providers need to discuss these with you.
